None of the Brewster-built F3As ever saw active combat use due to serious materiel deficiencies which were due to either outright sabotage or outright incompetence by Brewster. Top speed was limited to 300 MPH due to structural defects. Additionally, someone on the production line had the habit of sawing three-fourths of the way through the arrester hook struts. Due to these and other problems, they were restricted to training use.
